Help low oil pressure

I change the oil every 5000k. I've just had the truck for over a yr. and only put on 10k. The truck is now at 154k.
The people before me didn't change the oil as frequently. Buddy told me it always got royal purple synthetic. But I caught him in a few other lies as well.
