Default rotating noise?

Ive got this weird noise that has progressed to what sounds like impending catastrophic failure. Theres been a rotating clunk that's gotten louder ever since I got the H3. Now, theres a loud chatter that isn't there when I accelerate but only when coasting and on the gas. If I let off and coast to a stop its not there. Only with the gas on.

I'm guessing you'll get more responses if you provide more in sight. Year, milage and when approximately did the issue start.
Approximate area of sound?

Its an 08 alpha with 93k miles. I just got the truck about 600 miles ago. I was told from the previous owner that he thought it needed a new cv axle which I think explains a hard knocking noise I hear from take off that speeds up with the truck. Now theres this weird metallic clapping noise when cruising. It sounds like piston slap to me if that gives you an idea of the noise. Oddly enough, you can only hear it from inside the truck. Ive had my wife drive by me at different speeds and I can never hear it from outside. Could anyone describe to me what a bad front drive shaft or a failimg transfer case sounds like?

Get down under the front end put some gloves on and check the front end parts for play.
I'm guessing bad cv axle or ball joints.

Turns out it was the front diff the entire time. Had it rebuilt and replaced the cv at the same time. Trucks running perfectly now.
