Headlight Wires
I was about to install a wig-wag tonight. For those of you non police type people, thats the annoying module that makes the high beams flash from one side to the other.
I was playing with a test light to find my wires before I just jumped into wiring and I am COMPLETELY stumped as to how the heck the headlights on the H3 work. They behave as though the ground wire switches.
Here is what I found with a test light with a ground to the battery and testing for +12v :
(forgive me if the colors are not the correct colors..I was doing this at night and the wires are tucked up in there pretty good.)
DRL:
Blue: off
Red: on
Orange: on
Lo Beam:
Blue: off
Red: on
Orange: on
Hi Beam:
Blue: on
Red: on
Orange: off
So with this, I thought..Ok Blue is my high beam. So I put the test light on the blue, flicked the high beams and sure enough, the test light flashed with the high beams. So with all power off, you would assume that if you give power to the blue, you would light the high beam filament. But very unexpectedly, after a brief touch to + , it acted as though it shorted and the light didnt light. After I tested all the electrical components to make sure I didnt fry something, I stared at it for a while and can not figure it out.
When you hit the highs, you can hear a relay switch in the fuse box..
Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the lights or know how they work?

Am involved in S&R, Fire & Ems. The H3 is uses a ground side switch for the headlights. Wig wag kit must be for a ground switched system. You want to splice into the pink wire about 18" back of the headlight to splice the flasher kit in. Email me off fourm and i will send you a copy of the wiring diagram for the external lights this includes the headlights. This is what i used when i wired my kit in easy install might take 15 min max.

KB7TCV, can you email me the wiring diagram as well? jeffwhiteis27@hotmail.com
So is the pink wire the lo-beam headlight wire? I too am trying to wire in a set of lights to the headlight (low-beam) and trying to figure out what color the lo-beam is.
It's hard to reach from the harness and was wondering if there was a better location (i.e. kick panel) to splice this in. Thanks!
