Default Headlight adjustments broken?

Hi all,

I have a 2009 H3 3.7L with lux/chrome packages, and I've already found other threads about the vertical adjustments on the headlamp assemblies (pop the hood and use a T15 Torx screwdriver or E8 Torx socket on bolts above each headlamp).

Well I tried adjusting mine as they seem very, VERY low... like centered at the ground not 30 feet in front of the vehicle. The horizontal adjustments seem OK.

It appears that they only go so high, but I can keep turning the screws and push them higher with my hands, but they fall back down as if some sort of tension/spring mechanism to hold them upright is broken. Does anyone know how the headlight assemblies are held up?

Thanks for the input in advance!

Sounds like your adjusters are broken.
Time to pull the grill and headlight assembly.

If you are reading the manual on how to do it, it is WRONG. Turn the adjusters the opposite direction, the manual has that backwards.

Thanks, I saw that somewhere. I wasn't really using the manual, I just adjusted them at night while parked perpendicular to a wood fence and was watching the beam focus points elevate/drop. But it got to a point where they would not elevate unless I manually held the headlight up... so as Tainter said, the adjusters are broke.

Good responses, I will look into it more, still trying to find a good place online to order OEM parts.

...also, I ended up fixing this. Apparently the light adjustment screws just popped out off the square metal clips attached to the headlights and the lights pivoted down. So I just popped them right back on... I couldn't see what was going on until I removed the grill, but I did not need to... I could have just pressed hard on the top of the headlights and popped them back in place. Doh!
