New member here guys. I tried searching for older threads concerning the head gasketas in the 06 models but i couldnt find the answer I was looking for.

I am an 06 Lux Edition with about 58,000 miles. I hear that they have bad head gaskets. I am all about preventative maintenance and would like to know if I should replace the entire thing or if there are only certain parts which go bad. I did purchase an extended warranty from Carmax but I'd rather catch the problem first.

changing a head,or gasket on this engine is not a simple operation,head bolts alone are a challenge. fraid its a pro mechanic is the way to go. $$$

Oh ok, so you are talking about cylinder heads? Wow, so i would have to replace the entire head? I wouldnt do it myself, I have some mech friends. What exactly goes wrong with it?

 

the valve seats go bad. i think that's the issue. if it's under warranty, why do you care? why waste your money fixing it, if it breaks, it will get fixed for free.

 

id like to fix it now. I have a 75,000 mile extended warranty and I am at 58,000 miles. thats only like 9 months away for me.
