4 High is what you are suppose to be in for normal driving. That is the default. Will it go into 4 High Lock or 4 Low? Please consult your Owner's Manual.

my 07 h3x done that once, try pressing four high while backing up, i called onstar and they transferred me to GM support and that's what got mine out and it never did it again. But i've really never had a use for any of the other sittings, 4 High goes anywhere i want it too

Exercise your buttons a few dozen times and try cleaning between them. There are a few that have had them stick. Even if it is the shift fork it is less expensive to fix than a lot of things. Good Luck.

While it could be a bad T Case fork, since the failure rate is substantially below 25%, it is a whole bunch more likely you need to check the buttons and drive in reverse while attempting to shift back to 4 Hi, like others have mentioned.

If you can shift it into Lo Lock, and back to Hi Lock then you know that the T Case shift actuator is OK and rule out that potential issue.

Backwards turning to and fro while pushing the 4 Hi button should do it.
