H3 Stock Radio Question

my book shows a shielded cable with l/r wires inside the shield.
left,bn/wh
rite,gn/wh
these wires are part of a 12 pin cable between the radio and digital radio.
i saw the conn. its the same pins as computer ribbon cables,2x6pins.
the hot setup would be an ext cable plugged in series with the 2 audio wires pulled out to the stereo jack, ala p n play

And you have to break the connection between the xm receiver and the head unit other wise you will have both audio sources trying to play at the same time.

Now I didn't do any extra research over what I needed to know, I did however during my searches manage to locate a person making a cable with the male and female plugs and wired through the audio jack like previously shown. I don't recall the place or anything other than it was 25$. I didn't bother to see if the connectors were the same between the vette and h3 so I don't know if it would work.

I'm not gonna lie to you and say it's not shielded, however I only pulled off 2" of tape right behind the radio so the shield may have been cut just past that.
I haven't personally experienced any hum, whine from mine and I've plugged my charger in the phone while playing music, wrapped the headphone cable around the charger, and moved it all over to test it.
I've found the link to the guy making harnesses. An Auxiliary Input Alternative for owners who don't use XM - Corvette Forum

beautiful!,im confused on the 12 pin/16 pin conn though.
i guess i gotta pull the radio again anyway.
edit, oops the earlier post showing a jack that would normalise the audio when the plug is pulled IS the way to do it

Edit- Yes I did see the one at Radio Shack on the Corvette Forum link, but I don't have much faith in Radio Shack components.

A BIG thanks to 'wytecraka' for his post on this thread showing how to add a mp3 player to our H3's for about $5! I just finished this mod and it works great! I didn't want to cut into my factory harness for the connections, so I made my own pigtail to interconnect. I was previously using a wired FM modulator and was happy with it, but I had no idea of the sound I was missing. I now have true digital instead of digital to analog conversion. Thanks again!!
