Yep - the upper part on the newer ones is flatter and has HUMMER embossed on them..... I can use either one but his picture shows an earlier style. Bought it either way as mine is getting pretty bad and cracking in more places.

@Tilda - The things to know on buying a used one...
  • There is a flexible black seal around the outside edge of the entire panel. When new, this seals out water. If you buy used, most likely the seal will no longer be tacky and do its job. It is a black flexible tacky seal. I have tried to find it without luck. if that plate is not sealed then water and dirt can get into the rear compartment
  • @bronxteck recommended butyl tape... check this page for the discussion: Here
  • The handle is also sealed with a slathered-on flexible sealant... on a used one just check to make sure it seals all the knooks and crannies
  • IF there are holes in the plate where license plates were used, fill those as dirt and water will get in
  • Installing it requires removal of the plastic panel trim on the tailgate... you may need another person to hold it so you don't damage it
  • When you have it all opened up, take the opportunity to clean the inside of the door... I was surprised at how much dirt had accumulated back there from the former owner offroading

be especially carefull with the inside trim panel top clips across the top of the rear window. they will snap if you let the bottom of the panel hang from them. ideally 2 or three people job to do.one on either side holding while the third releases the top. or try releasing the top first.after removing the bottom panel screws.
