Based in UK, just bought a H2 a week ago, all was going great until the Check Engine Light came on (permanently, not flashing)

Bought a Vgate Scan OBD Scan Advanced OBD Scan tool but it wont work with the H2 however it does work with VW Golf & Passat so it must be a Hummer compatibility issue.

Can anyone recommend an OBD Bluetooth device that is known to work with the H2?

I have just a few days to return the vehicle if I'm not happy with it, must confess to being slightly worried, having said that it seems to run fine.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

 

first check gas cap.
second any obd2 scanner works.
third it is common to see code po449 which is evaporative canister leak small. it on frame and common.

 

if it wont scan check the fuse under the hood in the fuse box

 

Thanks for the suggestions, certainly will look at them.

The OBD reader was an Elm 327 but could be a cheap copy so its questionable. Fuse-wise I can see lights on it, gonna call in a service center later today and get a professional scan then we'll know.

The ELM327 works fine on mine, that's odd it won't work on yours. Is it getting a link between your phone or tablet-whatever you're using?

 

Firstly, took the H2 to an auto expert, good news is that the ODB port was OK.
The fault was P0420 "Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1"

Anyone familiar with this one?

Like I mentioned it worked fine with my VW Golf and VW Passat, just didnt like the H2. Perhaps its defective or a cheap copy, seems clear that a good diagnostic tool is invaluable so will try another.

Indeed or it could be or a sensor, I'll keep monitoring now I have new and working ELM327 ... yay!

There is a lot of Andriod ODB2 software out there, is there a really good app that works well with hummers?
