I own a 2008 Hummer H3 that has a bad transmission due to a radiator failure resulting in coolant and transmission oil mix.
I did a full flush and replaced filter but ended up losing 3rd gear.
Unfortunately where I live there is no expertise to rebuild - so I will need to replace.
-
- Can I just replace my current transmission with any year H3 or Chevy Colorado? ( 2006-2009 )
- And just as important, does anything need to be re- programmed on the vehicles computer?
I really love my H3 and my wife has one as well. Had them shipped from Florida to the Southern Carribbean.
Any info is well appreciated.!!!
Don't know about the programming, but the H3's have a unique transmission pan that has a cut out for the front drive shaft. I believe you can just swap pans on a compatible transmission.
Any 4L60E Trans 2000 - 2010 from any GM truck would work so long as you use the H3 Trans Pan like brothapig said. I am sure 1996-2000 years would also work. Should be plug n play, no programming so long as the replacement is a stock replacement or rebuild. If internal changes/modifications different from OEM were made, that might need to be addressed.
