Default Front license plate position too low?

Does anyone feel that the front license plate is positioned too low? I always had the fear that I would bump into something high and totally destroy the plate (and screw harnesses), and if the plate was higher, it may just bump into the skid plate instead (whereby I would hopefully have noticed the bump and stop!)

I bought a generic plate holder and moved it a little higher...

This is the "BEFORE" picture... [:'(]

Justput the screws in the bottom of the plate instead of the top.

I bought one of the blingy chrome plates on ebay and had to take the whole front undercarriage off the truck to get my arm up in there to put the thing on. [sm=smiley35.gif]#@*#* Had I known that, I wouldn't have bothered...there's no way it's coming off now!

I actually got a ticket here in NJ for using one of those license plate frames. The cop told me that it was illegal to cover any portion of the front of the plate.........I didn't hassle him 'cause he decided to give me that ticket instead of the moving violation for going 40mph in a 25mph zone. oops.
