Default Front end leaking... HELP

I did a search for this and found nothing. My H3 seems to be leaking fluid along the axels. Anyone have any clue why. I'll be taking it to the dealer soon, but thought I'd ask here for some answers first. It smells like transfer case fluid, or something other that oil. Looked all around and doesn't seem to be coming from anything other that the axels.

I found it out after I had my oil changed, thinking it was some spillage of oil, or filter not tight enough. That wasn't the case, however, The dumb a**es that changed my oil didn't tighten the bolts tight enough on my skid plates and I have lost 3 bolts. It was barely hanging there, So watch out for this. I'll be changing my oil from now on....

thanks for the help

Was it Jiffy Lube? They F'd up my skid plate bolts as well. I lost 2 of them, and 1 was hanging off. I went to Home Depot and bought replacement bolts which have been fine. They sell galvanized bolts that are exact matches.

As far as the leak, it could be your differential that is leaking.

Yes, as a matter of fact it was Jiffy Lube. Never again.....

Thanks for the info on the bolts, I'm sure the dealer would charge $50 for the bolts.

You can smell it and tell if it's 90 weight gear oil or engine oil.

Here is my thought, the quick change places do fluid checks, trying to sell you stuff/services you didn't come there for when you only need/want an oil change. I can't remember who does what checks.
If those friggin kids can't tighten a skid plate bolt, what makes ya think the put back the differential filler plug tight enough not to leak. They also could have just checked, let some run/drip out, then put the plug back and not cleaned up the mess so now it is wet in the area and dripping the mess???? That stuff is thick and will hang out a while before it blows off. You did not describe a puddle or dripping leak, so you could go to the spray wash and give the under area a soap and rinse bath to see if it continues???? Good luck.

Oil changes are easy in the H3 and I don't think I'd want some Jiffy Lube reject putting a wrench on my truck. They stripped out my wife's drain plug several years ago and I had to replace the whole oil pan! Never again!

I see your point. I will check out again by washing everything out. The drip pattern runs in a line alone the ground following the axel pattern. It doesn't seem to be the boot at all. I tell you this, I never thought they would check differential fluid on a 2006 truck. It's practically brand new, why they heck would they even bother with it. So needless to say I will be checking the plug.

Thanks for everyones input.
