A FEW QUESTIONS..please help
i have a FEW question, hopefully someone can help me a little bit
ok, so today my husband and i were driving down this dirt rd. (nothing crazy...) and there was this stupid log at the side of the rd. we didnt think anything of it so we kept driving (we were going no more than like 7-10 mph...) and the front right tire ran over the log a little, well the thing flew up and hit the side of the door, REALLY HARD....(reminded me of the time this deer ran full sleep into the sideof my car)
well it didnt dent it, instead it completely swiped the right side door handle of the car. [sm=insomnia.gif](i know awesome...now i cant open the freaking door on that side! what the hell!? ) so my first questions isssss;
WHERE THE HECK DO I BUY ANOTHER DOOR HANDLE AND IS IT HARD TO PUT ON???
well let me continue, on the way home we realize that the "low tire pressure" light came on. so guess what....FLAT TIRE! [sm=headbang.gif]ok so we changed it and fixed it. BUT the light is still on? so then we checked the pressure again (all 4 tires seem fine) so we keep driving. well then this turned on "SERVICE TPM". so my second question issss;
WHAT THE HECK DOES THAT MEAN?! and how do i turn the lights off? what does "TPM" mean??
[sm=WTFsgign.gif]
thanks everyoneeeee!

First guess for the door handle would be a dealer or one of the many vendors listed on this site. Its probably not that hard to fix. As for the TPM, it stands for Tire Pressure Monitor. It constantly monitors the tire pressure with the use of a little sensor in the tire on the rim. I don't know if there is a sensor in the spare. No matter though, the TPM light will stay on until the flat tire is fixed. However, you might not think you were going that fast, but it may have been enough to jarr the sensor in the RF tire to the point that it no longer works. A trip to any local tire shop will be able to fix that.

Had to read that 3 times..
I kept reading it as... "and there was this stupidDOG at the side of the rd. we didnt think anything of it so we kept driving (we were going no more than like 7-10 mph...) and the front right tire ran over theDOG a little, well the thing flew up and hit the side of the door"

Does the LTP sensor in the spare have to be introduced to the system?
Look in the owners manual.
Yep, look under "TIRES" in the Glossary in the back of the manual.Then look at "Pressure Monitor System"
It explains that each tire has a sensor that is matched to a specific location and each time the tires are rotated, you must match the wheel/tire to the new location.
Does the door handle have an obvious break looking at it? Could the log have knocked the linkage loose on the inside?
They are some heavy duty door handles and should take some punishment.
Let us know what you find.

That sucks BeachBabe! And you just got it too! My SERVICE TPM light comes on every once in a while but then goes off... so I'm not sure what's going on there..
Here are complete instructions on how to remove the door handles.

IIRC, there is a TPM sensor in the spare in pre-2008 H3's but not going forward. I have had TPM sensors in my C5 vettes for years and they are a blessing and a curse. They are battery-powered and sensitive to the cold as well. They will sometimes read errors when it's cold due to the battery not liking low temps. They are position specific. On my vettes, you use a large magnet to reprogram them to their specific corner. Also, they usually go intoa sleep mode when the car is not moving to save on battery life and come alive after you drive about a mile.
I recently had my low tire pressure warning come up on my '08 H3 every morning as the cold weather came inuntil I checked the tire pressure which was at 30 psi on all 4 tires. Duh! It's supposed to be at 35 psi. These sensors are set to a narrower tolerance range than those on my vettes as 5 psi under would not set them off on those. After I inflated the tires to the proper pressure, all has been well.
