so, curious as usual when something dont ring true,i took a digital meter with me on a shopping trip,20 miles out,20 back.
i figgered if the lites were gonna dim at every stop i should see it dip on my meter.
i must have stopped a hunnert times, normal traffic and strings of stops in mt parking lots....r u ready?

i saw readings from 15.09 to 15.14. about 50 millivolts with fluctuations of +- 20 mv routine as i drove steady. its daylite so i naturally cant see but i had the lites on and off. no difference. i figger it wood take a few volts to notice a dimming. no luck. man i stopped normal,,i banged the brake, i tried everything. a few times i saw a split second dip of a volt, but rare.

so tonite ill throw away another 5 or 10 bucks and cruise around banging the pedal, ill watch the lites AND the meter and report back later,,,

meantime, ifn u got lites dimming id look at the volts right at the batt + to start

just got back, wow its cold,25 algore degrees! i drove 10-12 miles in the country where i can stop anywhere/often. i cannot duplicate what you guys are saying.

there is no noticeable dimming and i am also seeing a max of .1 volt change, maybe .15.
the tach also never goes below 600 and actually stays at apx 700 till i LIFT my foot off the brake!
so im seeing tight control of rpm and volts,hi beam,lo beam,,moonbeam!

sometime back someone talked of rpm drop at stop and i wondered if that would cause a dimming.
but actually the batt is there to absorb bumps in demand,,,and what change is there in demand when u stop?? naturally the generator slows down but the batt should hold it.

btw the ONLY dip i see, down to 9+volts is at crank time,a few seconds and thats over 100 amps. that u expect

so im doing live tests, cannot see any dip,no dim.

do i have the worlds best hummer?
smooth idle, check
brite lites,check
stable rpm,check
no leaks,check
no rattles,yet,check!
guess i better lock it up and get a guard dog huh!

If you check out the thread where the guy is having problems with his stereo cutting out I talk about how I upgraded my electrical system under the hood. Until I did that I could dim my damn lights by rolling my window's up and down!
