H3 wants to cut out at 60 mph, had new plugs put in,,,still cuts out uphill at 60-65 mph,,,,,any ideas

 

Probably gonna need more information. Year, trim, miles, and what symptoms present when it cuts out

 

Check engine light or any other light "ON"?
Any message on the DIC?

 

The engine light was on. Had it hooked up on machine at garage and they said it was emissions and it was gas cap. They tightened it up and erased the code. Also put new plugs in. My H3 is an 08 sport with 78,000 miles. it only cuts out at about 60-65 mph

 

What brand of plugs did you put in?

 

FYI, whenever you have anybody scan the vehicle, write down the actual code(s), do not simply accept their explanation. If it was a loose gas cap, the DIC would display "FUEL CAP", so whatever code they erased for you would be very helpful right now since it probably was NOT for as loose gas cap. There are EVAP codes that may be related to a gas cap leak as a secondary diagnostic to a different problem.

Did this problem start after the new plugs were put in?

Meanwhile check your air filter for obstruction (dirt, leaves, crud), if it is just dusty, then that is not involved.

There is no such thing as an H3 "sport". The 2008 choices are:

It started before plugs were replaced, H3 sport is what's on the paperwork but it's probably a base. Engine light hasn't been on anymore, and I will write code down if it happens again, thanks

 

Start with normal maintenance, replace air filter, maf sensor cleaning, throttle body cleaning.
Do you smell fuel when walking around it?
