Cleaning engine 2006 H2
so i took my truck off roading in mud and got the engine full of mud and dirt. I want to clean it this weekend I have a degreaser and a brass and plastic brushes. I want to know what parts I should cover when I rinse it down can any1 please post pictures and or a video.! I have never cleaned it so that's the reason I'm using a degreaser. At the same time I'm going to change out my belt since it has never been changed and is starting to squeak. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks

I don't think you really need to cover anything. I would avoid high pressure and use something like Gunk Foamy Engine Cleaner. I would buy a Gates or Goodyear serpentine belt and be sure and check the tensioner and idler pulley once you get the belt off as they can be your source of squeaking.

Be very careful spraying around your intake. My mechanic soaked my motor with a hose and the water got into the knock sensors which are located under the intake. I had to replace my knock sensors, harness and intake gaskets.
The seals are known to fail and the foam under the intake allows it to pool and seap in. I knotched the rear foam and left the front one out so water would exit freely.
Also built dams around sensors to divert water around them.
Just be careful with the water.

I covered the alternator. Took off the intake and covered the trottle body the. Scrubbed everything with a plastic brush rinsed it waited till it dried applyed gunk original for about 10 min scrubbed again around the really bad parts and rinnsed really well. I did not use the shine product maybe next time also let the car run for avout 15 min till everything looked dried

Looks good.
I use my gas pressure washer when I wash the rig. I'll put the 40 degree tip on and just hold the wand further away from all the engine components. Takes care of pretty much everything. I'll dry what I can reach with a towel and let everything else air dry. Never had an issue doing it that way.
