cant hook up trailer W/spare tire
I have the same problem on my Alpha. All I do is open the door enough to get it out of the way for my boat trailer. I didn't want a longer hitch sticking even further back and the I didn't to go more than 2.25" drop I use because thats a nice level for the trailer.
I think I see the problem.
You don't have a factory hitch receiver.
You have an aftermarket hitch receiver.
The factory receiver is mounted thru the bumper, sticks out past the bumper and the pin hole is right near the end of the receiver tube, so my hitch sits further out away from the bumper.
The aftermarket hitch receiver, while it sits lower, stops short of the bumper and has the pin hole further back away from the end of the receiver, making your hitch sit closer to the bumper.

Yea, your right, its a aftermarket receiver. I didn't think to mention that, I just thought they were all kinda the same... looks like Ill probably go the "open the door" route just so I wont need to buy another hitch.
