Default RE: broken leaf spring

I know no one has commented on this in a while, but just wanted to share that I just had a similar experience. Hit a pothole going maybe 15mph and heard a clunk. Left rear main spring broke at the front eyelet. I too have 35's and the front bars cranked, but agree that I don't see how either could have an affect on this. I think it may have more to do with the fact that mine is an '06 with 110k miles on it. I've done some extensive searching on the internet and have only managed to find 2 other people other than this thread that have reported the same issue, so it must not be that common. I know my mechanic said it's the first he's ever seen...

Sucks to have to shell out $1200 to have the springs replaced & be without my truck for a week, but with all the other things going on around the US today I suppose it could still be a whole lot worse...

Its more common than you think. It happened to me and a couple other owners in the same spot as you. Cost me $375 to replace both springs myself with OEM parts. The bolt rusted to the frame and also to the sleeve of the bushing. This caused the spring to bend back and forth over and over instead of rotating at the pivot of the bushing and eventually snapped.

I got a second opinion from the local GM dealer and he was within $100 of the original quote I got.

maybe I didn't explain correctly what work was being done in my original post. I need to have the whole leaf replaced on both sides of the vehicle. From what I've seen online the parts cost about $300 and It seems like a lot of labor, so I dunno...

Thats exactly what we were referring to. It took me 3 hours to replace both leaf spring packs in my garage. Worst part was cutting the old bolts out.

Yep, exactly what atvspeed said. That's a sheet-ton cost for the labor!

Saws-all, jack, jack stands, a ratchet set and a few hours is all it should take.
