My brakes need changing. Been a long time since I changed brakes out, high school I think, and I've never done brakes on Hummer. Is the process fairly easy? I'm also going to change out the rotors as well.

 

It's probably even easier now than when you were in HS. Well unless your are only 20

If you have the cash, look into a slotted or drilled & slotted rotor.
It cut my stopping distance down anywhere by a third to half of the original distance. I had an elderly lady pull out in front of me (I had a green light on a 55mph road, going 55, she took a right turn on red) and I was able to stop instead of seriously injuring or killing her.

 

I'm going to use OEM parts, as I always do. Going to change out pads and rotors. To do the job I'll need a few extra tools but I think doing it myself is worth the money I'll save.

I've heard slotted rotors chew through pads pretty quick. Otherwise, I'd totally do it!

I was also considering picking up the shop manual by Helm, is that worth the price? $250 on their website.

 

If you are going to keep the H2 for ever then yes the shop manual is worth it. I imagine the manuals will be discontinued one day and we won't have the option to buy one.
