Before I go to the dealer
Something tells me this is going to leave a mark!! I noticed today that my CV axle is throwing grease out of one of the boots. I called the dealer and told them what I saw & they told me it may not be covered under the "bumper to bumper" warranty because it might be from road debris. They then told me that if there is a tear in the boot I would need to pay for the entire repair, but i could bring it by so they could look at it. This conversation doesn't give me a real warm fuzzy!! There are too many variables that could have caused this other than road debris such as transportation to the dealership, service employees or any other factor since putting the first bolt to metal on my truck. Is there any recourse if they tell me it's torn & my baby??
I am having a similar problem:
I have put an aftermarket radio in my truck. No big deal. I used a wire harness kit that gets everything from the factory harness. No wire splices anywhere. I have the Monsoon system and left the factory amp in place.
Every now and then, I get static from the front/right channel, kinda like a bad wire. I removed the stereo, problem still exists. I removed the wire harness adapter, problem gone. I purchased a new adapter, but the problem came back a week later. I now suspect it is the Monsoon amp causing the issue. I removed the adapter, problem gone. I plug the adapter back in, problem back. If I leave it unpluged over night and reconnect, the problem is totally gone, at least for a couple weeks. Now I am convinced it is the factory amp.
I took it into the dealer. they told me it was my problem since I had an aftermarket radio. WTF?
I am really regretting selling-off my factory radio now . . .
I have another dealer horror story that I am in the middle of, but I want to wait and give them a chance before airing the dirty laundry.
