Default Bad Day Today My H2 Was Hit

On my way home from shipping packages to a wounded soldier, a jerk in a Hyundai Tuscon pulls an illegal lane change in an intersection and slams into the passenger front door and rear door. He also took out the tube step-side. I have never been so upset in my life, I have owned this less than 2 weeks and this H2 was in pristine shape body wise and had never been in a wreck before, it had a clean Carfax report. The cops ticketed the jerk and he will end up in court over it since we have strict driving laws in Virginia.

Are doors still available for the H2 or am I going to be stuck having to suffer with bondo? The steps sides are cheap and I will move over to stainless steel ones since they are sold as a pair.

I've seen plenty of doors on craigs and ebay. The only brand new ones I've seen are the outer skin though, no complete doors. Best bet would be local salvage yards although I'm sure the majority of them are pretty picked over for the 2's. Good luck.

That sucks! I would find the best body shop you can and drop it off with them. Let them and the insurance company work out the details.

I know it may make the repair more challenging but I would request (no demand) that if they install replacement used doors they be the same color. I have seen many vehicles over the years with a used door installed and it was noticeable when you pulled the door panel or most of the time the body shop may have not spent the proper amount of time to prep the back side of the door and the paint had flaked off in a seam or area of the door making the repair obvious.

After all it wasn't your fault and you shouldn't accept work or a product that may reduce the value of your deuce.

The body shop or insurance company will assure you " O it will be perfect you will never no we do it all the time" BS! Prepping the outside door skin for a color change no problem, but sand and scuffing every last crease and contour of the inside area of the door just won't happen = later on down the road your stuck seeing the original color.
There repairing an H2 not a Corolla

wow sorry to hear RAHF, if its any help before i bought mine, it was stolen in Missouri and it was in an accident where the insurance company totaled it. Of course that was closer to 2003, but there was no frame damage, same side as yours, passenger side rear door and body,my carfax is dirty, but i don't plan on selling it
Nothing wrong with her now

I need both passenger door and the step-side. I am taking the H2 in for estimates today, one from the insurance companies body shop and the one it will go to so it can be repair properly. They are the best body shop in Northern VA and are pricey but the insurance company is going to have to pay their price. I also discussed "Diminished Value" with the adjuster and will be filing a claim due to the fact that it will no longer have a clean Carfax report. She has agreed to settle that claim as well.

Man, that SUCKS RAHF! just be glad it wasn't any worse, at least you wasn't hurt or there wasn't anybody else in there with you that could have maybe been hurt on the passenger side. As far as the H2 it can be fixed but that's a Pain in the Butt knowing its Not going to be the same as it was before & having to deal with the insurance co. & the body shop! GL Buddy, hope everything works out for you!

Tough luck. Hold out for the repair shop you want. It makes a huge difference.

Sorry to hear about the accident, as long as your ok the Hummer can always be fixed. New doors are still available just have to be persistent in finding them. I know eBay have several used doors there, I dont see any problem with you finding the parts you need.
