Hi I'm also a newbe to hummers. just bought an 09 h3 with 90K on it. Talked to several owners before I purchased. Their advice to me was not to worry too much about mileage, some of these guys I talked to had 200K plus and going strong. They said to purchase 07 or newer if possible. There was a engine power increase in 07 on the 5cyl. or look at one with 8cyl if your not worried about gas mileage. Look at overall condition and check car fax for damage due to accidents and also you can see if any major repairs were done. Not necessarily and bad thing as the weak part may have been replaced and you don't have to worry about that issue again.

I'm also thinking of buying an H3. I'm concerned about getting it serviced, body panels in the event of an accident, etc. Do you know if there are issues with either of those....??

06 and early 07 models had some head issues. Outside of that pretty solid trucks. I haven't had any parts issues but I have not looked for body panels.

Body parts are getting harder to find but are still available. When you buy one try to get it with a 5.3L engine, it will hold a better resale value, will last much longer and parts for this engine will be abundant for quite a while. Good luck shopping!!
