Default Hummer H3 & Camping

Good to hear from you Aussie,

Looking forward to the trip pictures. I'm also contemplating the idea of changing the trailer axle to accommodate the same wheels and tires as on my H3. I have seen it in other forums and the whole set up looks perfect. Also contemplating the idea of installing a snorkel but have not been able to find anyone who has done it with having the exhaust pipe elevated also. I made a tool box to keep all my gear in the back without loosing to much space. see pics.

Nice job on the tool box.

If you want you could always cover it with marine carpet and it would look like a bought one Might do something similar for my recovery equipment and tools once I get a chance, really like the idea.

Been lazy, no photos yet of the new 33's, will get to it soon

Nice, work.

I will have to get motivated and do a few more things.

Here are some photos of the 33" tires fitted up, these are Summit Mud Hog Extreme in 33", 285/75-16, found them on eBay for a great price.

Here it is at the tire place, while they are getting fitted.

Here is the first photo taken parked on the street about 5 minutes after they were fitted:

And here is another one in the car park:

Certainly changed the look, getting a few more stares now from owners of other 4x4's

I have covered about 2000 miles now with these tires and have not noted any difference in fuel economy, have not taken it off road either, so can't comment, but it certainly sits higher, and has more ground clearance now.

NEXT JOBS:

Buy and install winch.

Buy and install long range driving lights.

Thanks,

Have picked up a set of chrome Hummer rims and standard tyres for $350 on eBay the other day (same rims as what is on my H3). So my next project will be fitting them to my camping trailer

Just a bit busy at the moment, will get there though.

Decided to make my own driving light brackets as well as nothing on the market seems to do the job

Aussie, what are you going to use for H3 compatible hubs on your trailer? I've been thinking about doing the same modification to my trailer.

Yep that is the plan, been talking to a trailer shop and they need me to check the bearing size and they will give me new hubs to suit the Hummer wheels, just looking at the trailer I think I will have to remove the wheel guards and move them as well, so might not be so simple but will be worth it.

Might even have to widen the guards a bit or replace them all together, will see once I get the hubs.

Here it is as it sits today:
