Default Audio Upgrade Question HELPPPP PLEASE

Hello all,
I drive a 2004 Hummer H2 with the factory bose stereo (no navigation) and I am planning on upgrading the factory stereo using 3 kicker cvr 12" subwoofers. Im also going to upgrade the 6.5" component speakers along with the tweeters in each door to aftermarket component speakers from alpine. Both the sub setup and component will have their own amps. Considering all this, I would prefer to use the factory head unit.

What Line output converter can I use in order to run this setup where the subs and components have their own amplifier? 4 channel? 5 channel?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated....

I would recommend changing the head unit if your going to do a full stereo. PAC audio makes a great converter its kinda expensive but works great for what your trying to do. PCH8 is the part number. It will never sound as good as changing the head unit though. hope this helps.

I really cant listen to cd's b/c the nav disc is always in.

Could that be done?

I actually had all of my equiptment removed from my H3 (and original reinstalled) when I traded it for the H2 2 months ago. I also bought all Kicker. The door speakers are the same size in the H2 so that worked out nice. I have to have the 3rd row removed to get my box in. 2 12's and 2 amps on that. If you want to keep Onstar and change the deck there is a harness that they install so that is not interrupted. I'm not sure that I will put the AF deck in this one or not depending if it can take the power or not.

Thumbs up

i thinnk that instead of 2 12 inch get 1 l7 15inch with a hyphonics brutus amp, 1200 rms at 2ohm 2200 peak. 4 o2 speakers for the doors 6.5 and a 4 channel amp hyphonics. 1600d work perfect well thats the setup i got. I just change my head unit with a jensen i got from a friend. the sound is amazing.

You can use the factory unit but you will get engine noise and it sucks, try to get 1 mono amp for the sub and a 4 channel for the mid and high and a crossover for the tweeters.

I HIGHLY recommend an Alpine Head Unit. I don't have the model number handy but it's gunna give you the BEST sound for the price. The signal processor is better than Kenwood & SONY.... SONY SUX!!!! I've installed a Memphis shallow "10 in a custom box under the seat in my H2 SUT with an Alpine Class D 400watt. I am still run'n my stock head unit but when I change it to the Alpine, the signal to the amp AND the bose speakers is gunna clean up and increase volume drastically!!! The single "10 is perfect! I'd like it to be a bit harder & a bit deeper but under the conditions of no room, it's the BEST POSSIBLE set up imaginable! The head unit should run around $800 & the kit for the Steering wheel controls is additional along with a module that add's more filtration of the signal going out. This way you don't have to deal with an AC/DC converter.

Default Removing OnStar

Someone on this thread mentioned a plug or something you could install to bypass OnStar? Is there a part number or link? I have a 2006 Hummer H2 and see nothing useful at all about OnStar here. I'd rather take it out and either put in an equalizer, or even a blank plastic panel.
