I'm looking for an assist strap for my hatch. It's the leather strap. I found 2 diff part numbers, one for the strap for years 2005-2009 which is still available, and on part number for years 2003-2004 which is no longer available. Do any of you know why they aren't compatible with each other? Could it be modified to fit the older year models?

 

Can someone who has a 2003 H2 take a picture of the rear hatch assist strap for me? My new 2003 is missing it and not sure if its just a strap or theres a piece of plastic between strap and where it gets screwed into hatch.

I have an 05 also and it has a plastic piece between strap and where it screws into the hatch door. thanks in advance.
