Anyone have to replace rear swing gate gas strut yet?
Gas strut replacement for rear swing gate...
I've already got the part (Tuff Support 610714) but can't find a simple set of instructions for removal and installation.

My rear gate strut is pretty tired too.
In the pic below, lower left you can see a close up of the head. Note that there is a metal clip and the plastic head has a screw driver slot. Stick a small flat screw driver in the slot and pry up on the metal clip, you do not have to pry the clip all the way off. When you pry it back the ends of the metal clip open to allow it to slip off the mounting ball post. Install is the reverse, just force the clip back in/on all the way and it clasps the mounting ball.

I did not go look first because I haven't been driving the 3 in this lousy weather, trying to save it from road salt this year.

All finished with the miss' h3. I now realize mine stinks...lol! I've ordered a Stabilus / Sachs Lift Support SG230109. Seems like a nice one. Ran about $27.
By the way oem 15255554 , 15864389. Cheapest with s/h was close to $45.
