I need some help. The past day or two I noticed that My AC was coming in and out. it would be cold for a few seconds then it would go back to normal temperature air. it does this over and over. When I opened the hood. I noticed that the A/C compressor turns on and off. What I mean is that the A/C clutch kicks on and then it kicks off. I think I need to replace the compressor out. Have you guys dealt with this issue?

 

It could be low, which means you have a small leak. There is a low pressure and high pressure interlock in the system to keep it from hurting itself. Take it to a shop where they will evacuate the system, leak check it, and add the correct amount of freon back in. All for ~ $50-75.

I learned the lesson the hard way, but you really don't want to add your own freon without a pressure gauge and do not add leak stop. Those will just cause more issues down the road.
