I do agree, the price of the conversion and higher costs of diesel today is the deal killer for me. Quite a few years ago when diesel was much cheaper than regular fuel I could see it being more feasible. However I guess if you have $30k+ burning a hole in your pocket you could go for it.

$30k though I'd be starting on a Factory Five GTM kit car!

It is definitely expensive... it probably would not have been' the budget for me had I purchased an h2 brand new before they ended the line and then wanted to add a $30k conversion. My wife would probably have killed me. I was lucky to find mine complete. However there are some very cheap high mileage h2's out there, couple that with a conversion and your at still under the original sticker price of my 2008 le. That being said I don't think I would have been looking at a vehicle in that price range.
I think if you have your h2 paid off, the motor needs replacing, you can afford it plus plan on keeping it... then go for it.

Ummm yeah but how would you get that off road?
Yeah thats what I thought !!

Besides as for kit cars/supercars, I am a little more partial to the SLC

But hey if anyone has 30k in their pocket, burning a hold in it and dont know what to do with it. The best idea i can come up with is
- send it to me
PM me for my address
Cashier's checks welcomed

Thanks for the advice guys. I drive about 40k a year and gas along is about $16-17k per year. If the info is true (18-26mpg for diesel) I can save $8-9k a year with diesel. Within 3-4 years I get my money worth plus vehicle value appreciation and the fun .

You can have it built to your individual specifications... how far you go and what you spend is up to you. I recommend you call Mike at mashmotors and tell him what your looking to do, tell him John from Texas with the ultramarine h2 sent you his way... he's a good guy, very fair and the customer service is top notch.

I spoke with predator several times and it always seemed I was just talking to a salesman... that wasn't the case with mashmotors, there you talk to the guy that is going to do the work the guy turning the wrench.

what is your setup? what mpg after diesel conversion? thanks

Yep thats actually one of the reasons I was looking into it myself. Roughly 250 miles a day x5 days, and a tank of gas every 1.5 days at the tune of 100 bucks roughly.... I was shelling out almost the same. So I could definitely see this as along term investment.

We should get a group deal going on with Mash.... bring him like 5 rigs and see if we can get the price to say 15-20k

Good ideal. I spoke to Mike over at Mashmotor. The starting price $32K setup is a USED setup (motor, trans). The new setup runs $60K.

Man, I wonder if I could just buy a salvage truck with a duramax motor and swap everything over. Any thoughts?
