Hi,

I have a 2007 Hummer H3 and I am getting this griding sounds when i brake hard right before I stop. It really sounds like metal to metal. Could I possibly need new brakes already at 16K miles. I called the dealer and they said no way. What do you think? Anyone had this problem? Thanks for your input!

Could be a brake pad indicator, could be a loose brake pad. These things are heavy and hard to stop. If you brake heavily, i.e. run fast up to the stop and brake hard regularly, it may be in need of pads and a rotor turning.
Definitely look into it, you may be doing damage as you go.

 

Def. sounds like something that needs checking out
