Default 2003 H2: Where is the rear hatch sensor?

My '03 has been, largely speaking, fine after buying it used a couple years ago. Today, my (factory) alarm has gone off twice in the driveway. After unlocking the H2 to silence the alarm, when I try to lock it for a second time to get the "honk", it won't.

I checked it out, and the dash says "Rear Access Open". However, the hatch is closed and nothing is blocking it. I closed it a couple of times, it went away, I was able to fully lock/alarm it, but then the alarm went off again a little while later.

Where is the sensor/button/etc. that the H2 uses to determine whether the hatch is closed or not? I've verified that it fully locks/unlocks, it just doesn't seem to sense that it is closed.

I'm just guessing here, but isn't the sensor inside of the door where the metal hook clicks into place?

I don't recall a pyscial tab sticking out on the trim around the door, so I guess you'll have to go inside of the hatch & replace the sensor.

It's built into the latch. I know on some Ford trucks they have a similar problems and spraying WD40 into the latch will make then work correctly again. Might be worth a try.
