15,000 mile maintenance
Hi Guys~
The service manager at my dealership has suggested that I get the 15,000 mile maintenance package. I don't know if it's necessary or if the price is good/bad or just plain ugly...
Included are:
• Change oil and filter
• Replace air filter
• Perform throttle body service
• Replace wiper blades
• Add BG MOA Oil fortifier
• Add BG CF5 fuel system cleaner
• Top off all fluids and inspect
• Inspect Chassis
• Inspect belts and hoses
• Check brake pads and system check
• Lube where applicable (that's what it says .... no funny stuff) [8D]
Price is $228.09

For anybody here who can do this themselves, that price is just plain ugly. There is no more than $40 in parts here, so the rest is just labour. If you aren't comfortable with doing it yourself, any number of other garages will do these same services for a lot less. But, there is some peace of mind, and good relationship building going with your dealer, and they need to make money too,so, you really need to decide how important that $228.09 is to you.
thats what i was going to say throw a little cash to the dealer and there might be less hassles when it comes time to get warranty work ............. but there is something wrong there but do we have much of a choice.
i just got my semi anuall check up which seems fairly similar except mine was 145.00 i have the tentioner noise when you cold start it but quiets down when warmed up, my dealer is 130 km awayand they will not take my word for it. They want me to leave it over night so it will make the noise which means getting a hotel room and all that so i am just going to eat it and change it myself. It kinda burns me that they would not take my word on it........like i want them to needlessly take my hummer apart and put something on that is not needed.

I just did all of the above to my vehicle and in addition rotated my tires, inspected the cv boots, brake lines, shocks, and the undercarriage. If you look in the owner's manual it will tell you what kind of lube is recommended and for what part. You can buy the lube from Pepboys for a couple of dollars. The total cost for me was $35.00. I used Mobil 1 motor oil and the Fram "Tough Guard" oil filter. I have the K&N air filter, so I just inspected it and it was fine. The whole process took me about 1.5 hours because I was thorough. I just won't bring myself to pay over $200 for something I can do myself.

Dang..that sounds like a lot of money..but if you don't have anyone to do it for you..I quess we must do what we gotta do..[sm=smiley2.gif]..My husband can do all that himself..but just said..I rather have someone do it..but he will change his mine quick..once he hears the price.
(risking sounding like an idiot........)
If I were to do my own regular service things (oil change ect) Is my warranty still good? Because I have no "documented" proof that the servces were done. A reciept from the quickie lube, or a receipt from a local mech shop. Just curious.

Paige, I am going to do it BUT then I also have a GM letter for a $200 coupon (which makes a big difference in my pocketbook)...UNLESS of course they want to come back and tell me THAT letter is no good now either!!!! [:@]
