Agreed. Unfortunately, it didn't resolve the issue. Had an issue with the brake lights again tonight.

Got to be something in the rear door

If it is still doing it after a proper fix of the frayed wire then it is a BCM issue.

Quite possible but opening and closing the rear door resolves the issue.

Every time the rear door was shut last night, the brake lights would blink. That's why i am going to look there first. Curious to see if the high mount light has a short in it

That harness short in the rear has been known to short out/damage the BCM requiring replacement in the past. Happened to many people over the years.

Keep in mind the brake circuit is powered all the time regardless of ignition key position, so if there is a ground anywhere in that wiring = short.

It could also be a bad brake switch (at the pedal) might want to take a look at that, see if it is getting stuck?

Thanks Doc.... Fooled with it this morning and found an issue at the brake switch. There was a rubber pad mounted on the brake pedal bracket. This pad had dents worn in it from both switches. Not sure if this rubber pad is an OEM item or if someone had added it as a 'shim' so that the switch would work correctly. There is now a metal 'shim' in its place. So we will see.

Lol, now I am getting traction control failure display. From what have read, that also points to a BCM. So, it looks like I will be going to the dealer for that anyways in the near future.
I hate paying people to do mechanic stuff. Lool
