Default 09 to 07 steering wheel swap?

Hi guys,

I'm zeroing in on purchasing an 07 H2 (black on black!) and my main concern (besides it having (91,000 miles on it) is sprucing up the interior. I love the all black but there's no contrast, so the audio system is getting overhauled, possibly adding a dash kit, some gauges, some billet chrome accents, and...

...I was wondering if you can do a steering wheel swap.

If I can get my hands on one of the nicer, heated, two-tone steering wheels (available on eBay without the airbag, which can be bought separately), I was wondering if it could be installed? Would I lose any functionality, especially considering I'm probably going to be installing a Rosen or Pioneer in-dash GPS unit that should link up fine with the audio steering wheel controls?

This could be a neat mod. Thoughts?

Because it's listed $10,000 below value, making it in my price range. Any specific reason (besides common sense caution b/c of mileage) you'd not recommend this?

Hi a 2009 steering wheel is way different than a 2007. A 2007 H2 is gm class 2 and a 2009 H2 is gm Lan 29 so steering wheel buttons are different and the air bag system and the clock spring is also different. If you are changing the wheel buy one thats for a 2007 so it all works the way it should from gm, just my 2 cents. Also welcome to the forum.

Thanks twr1. So do we know for sure that a plug-n-play steering wheel swap is not possible?

Hi i am very sure it will not work. 2003 up to 2007 are Class 2 so any wheel for 2003 to 2007 will work. 2008 and 2009 are the same they work on GM Lan29. I have 2008 and bought a 2009 heated wheel and had to order a clockspring to make the heated wheel work plus their is some extra wiring for me to do just to have the heated wheel work.

Nope, not really. Mileage would pretty much be it. Unless your not going to get a ext warranty on it. How much is it going for if you dont mind me asking? I looked for a few months and never saw a 2007 with over 70k. Got mine with 30k on it.

2007 black on black leather, 91,000 miles for...

$24,900

The small dealership works only with one bank that won't finance a vehicle with over 90k miles, so I have to call my bank tomorrow and see what I can get.

Is 25k your limit? Its just my opinion but id spend more and grab one with say 35-40k miles. Where are you located?
