Default 07 vs. 06 airbox ?

I have my '06 at the dealership today, and they gave me a yellow '07 as a loaner. I noticed that the airbox on the '07 has a hose running off of the frontand down to a canister, and my '06 has no such provision / setup. Anybody know what this is for? Just curious.

The 07 has an air pump that pulls air from the air box and pumps it into the exhaust manifold to get the cat lit off quicker.

Sorry for asking this, as I would normally check it out myself, but GF has the truck on a road trip this weekend. Does this additional hose affect any aftermarket intake systems? I have been thinking about adding a K&N 77 series intake to my '07 H3, so will this mean drilling an extra hole, or will it still just bolt on? Thanks for the info.

The 06 Version has a 1/2" tapped hole in the tube (see in picture just before the throttle body)the kit comes with some fittings..I donno if this will work on the 07..

It is my understanding that 2007 H3's can not use the same cold air kits as the 2006's. That is what I was told by K&N. I am on a list that sends me updates on new products for the '07 H3... and they do send stuff, they sent me a notice when they came out with a K&N oil filter for it. If I was a guessing man (which I am), I would say that the throttle body may be a few MM's bigger in the '07's due to the larger engine displacement... but that's just a guess.

I would agree after seeing the '07 loaner I drove today, and having the same intake as Dennis on my '06. Hopefully they will get a kit out for the '07 owners soon.

That's one of the great things about this forum I have been bouncing back and forth about whether to get the K&N intake. Being that I can't just go into a store here and look at one, I rely a lot on what others recommend, and describe, before ordering one. In this case, I had several people comment that they "think" an '06 model would fit the '07. Even though it is not verified for sure that t won't, this additional info has convinced me to wait and get positive confirmation it will work, or that a new model is needed, before (if) taking the leap. I really am thankful for G Mans observation, and posting this thread, and thanks also to all members who contributed![sm=thanx.gif]

First check to see if the new intake accepts your MAF sensor. It changed for 2007. I'd probably get a small breather filter for the air pump hose. The new intake probably doesn't do anything with this hose.

I had similar questions. After emailing K&N, I was told by Nick Peres that "K&N has not released a performance intake kit for your vehicle".(2007 H3). He also told me to put my name on the product release list. I emailed himback and as him to clear up this issue as some supplier web sites list their FIPK's as fitting both 2006 and 2007 H3s. I told him I'd sure hate to have to use his competitors product. Still waiting for a reply. From what I've read on this forumn it sounds like we'll have to wait for the latest version.
