Default 06 hummer h3 engine replacement.

I got a 06 hummer h3 adventure/luxury package. With the 3.5 engine. I need to know exactly what year engine will work and from what vehicles can I get a donar engine. Thanks. I do not want to do a swap to a 3.7 or anything like that just a nice clean bolt in replacement engine. Thanks again.

Since the H3 only had the 3.5L available in 2006, the quick answer is 2006 H3.

IIRC (no guarantees) any GM I-5 3.5L (2004 - 2006 Colorado/Canyon and 2006 H3) will drop in with NO changes needed. The 3.7L will work, but (again, IIRC...) you will need to reflash the PCM or BCM, or both. I would search the Coly/Canyon forums for the answer- what did they need to reflash to make the swap from an H3 to work for them. Then you'll have the information on what is needed for your H3.

What rsc said. The ONLY nice clean bolt in replacement would be an I5, the simplest would be the 3.5L, but moving to a 3.7L would not be significantly more difficult.

IIRC- If I Recall Correctly. I'm halfway through my 40's now, I have CRS (Cant Remember S...stuff) but something somewhere is telling me something about some thing or another about an I-5.

OK thanks, does anyone here have the exact procedure for removing the engine? I don't want to start taking stuff off and find out there was no need for it. Thanks

Start by first finding a shop to do the swap. If you have to ask where to start you clearly are not ready to do an engine swap.

I agree with rascole. The 05 Colorado motor will work just fine. I have not seen a Chilton's or Hayne's manual on the H3 so the factory manuals are all you will have to go on.
