You will be miles ahead if you get the rear main seal pre installed with the back plate. They can sometimes be a pain in the butt to align and if they are not just so, they will leak. Also you will have to drop transmission and transfer case to get to it.

thanks. I’m not looking forward to dropping the transmission. I will need to get some additional hardware, ie transmission Jack. Hope to get that done over the summer.
