03 H2 radio upgrade
Does it have to be GM?
There's a plethora of android based units in the sub $500 category that will work with everything, including steering controls. You can spend more and get a Kenwood/Pioneer/Alpine that works with everything as well.
What are you hooking up w/ the aux connector? Most new head units have bluetooth (1 or 2 radios) & usb ports at this point.

I believe there is a wiring harness you can purchase with an aftermarket radio to retain steering wheel radio functions. I believe they run about $100 or so. Check Crutchfield as they can suggest a radio and also a harness. Hope that helps!
Crutchfield can help you out.
Many of the android units will work w/ the proper harness (it's not a big deal to hook up at all). I do not know about the rear controls. I will have to do some research. I know for a fact, the steering wheel controls work 100%.

I have a Pioneer AppRadio3, steering wheel controls work fine as does OnStar (as far as I can tell). If I had to do over I'd get one of the new ones that has Android Auto support, or one that runs Android.
Other benefits are backup camera input and full bluetooth handsfree support, not to mention everything that comes with Android integration (screen mirroring in my case).
There are extra bits you have to purchase for steering wheel controls, OnStar and I believe rear seat media controls (not sure on this one), but from personal experience it's well worth it.
