Default In the process of buying an H3

Hi all, glad to be a part of this forum. I've decided to buy an H3 and am currently searching for one in central NC. This is just going to be a 2nd car and not a DD. More of a toy/utility vehicle to pull trailers and do some light off roading. So far I've driven an Alpha (awesome) and an 07 standard H3. I'm leaning toward the standard one because the price is right and it has the premium black leather interior. Of all the YouTube videos and ads for these cars I've seen, that black leather seems to hold up regardless of mileage. No drivers seat issues even with >200k miles!

So I paid for a pre purchase inspection on the H3 I'm looking at and although the frame, brakes, seals, etc. are all good it is throwing some codes I would like you guy's opinion on. Since this is not the appropriate place for technical help I am going to create a thread in the appropriate sub forum and will link to it here.

I'm looking forward to being an active part of the H3 community, coming from a Jeep TJ (anyone want to buy a nice TJ?).

Welcome to HF.

The I5s are always going to be available at a lower price than a comparable Alpha. In you case the price increase is not just the Alpha because it is also newer than the 07. I had an 07 Adventure for 12 years, great truck.

To comment on codes, we would need to know what they are and I see you posted them in your other thread in the H3 section.

Personally, I would buy an Alpha for your needs (towing) and occasional OffRoad.
*Maximum towing capacities were 3,000 lb (1,361 kg) for the straight-5 with manual transmission, 4,500 lb (2,041 kg) for the straight-5 with automatic transmission, and 6,000 lb (2,722 kg) for the V8 with automatic transmission.
*GVWR for the 07 H3 is 5850lbs - you have to take that into consideration with the tongue weight and overall (passengers + cargo + tongue weight)
*GVWR for an 08 Alpha is 6100lbs - you gain 250lbs of passengers + cargo + tongue weight
*the Alpha 5.3L V8 is a tried an true motor and pats are plentiful (except for the steering pump).
*ALL Alphas have the leather you seek too!
