If I hadn't been a mechanic for the past 42 years working on jet aircraft, boats, cars and motorcycles and actually had to pay the current shop rates to get things fixed, the repair cost for all these items would be astronomical..
couple weeks ago I wasn't home and my neighbor needed to have his camshaft sensor relearn on his Camaro and the dealer charged him $174 for a 5-minute job. They told him it's a one hour minimum charge to plug in. So I kind of understand why people tend to neglect what I consider routine maintenance. I knew it had a bunch of minor leaks, but with that plate underneath the engine I figured it would be just one or two items. And to be honest if I bought the one that had 160,000 miles, I would probably go through it as well replacing the same items.
Installed a new set of valve covers with the updated baffle inside. Well apparently this engine received oil changes as it's fairly clean inside, my guess is that PCV valve is from 2003
Nothing inside. It's more like a metered port. Not 100% plugged but close to it. I noticed the new design just has a metered hole and no valve to replace.
