Default My Fuel Economy is Worse Than Expected...

The last 2 tanks of gas show me averaging 12 mpg combined highway and city (I wouldn't call where I live a city) driving. I knew my economy would suffer some from leveling and 33" tires but I din't think it would suffer this much. With these numbers makes me think I should have just bought an H2.

What are others averaging for their H3T's fuel economy?

Did you get a PCM tune when you added the bigger tires? If not, your speedometer and odometer is off. You are probably logging fewer miles on the odometer than you are actually driving. This will certainly throw off your "calculated" mpg's.

The exact thought has crossed my mind and at some point I am definitely going to do the PCM tune. Do you happen to know if the PCM tune for less for the H3 is the same as the H3T because when I go to the website the H3 is the only choice?

The tune is the same. Mine is also off since adding 35's. I actually don't mind as it has made me stop thinking about mpg's, but I know I get better than 12mpg.

I know my mpg is off because of the change in tire size but I would only expect the change would reflect 1 mpg difference which still puts me at 13 mpg. Bottom line is I love the truck and don't really worry about the mpg. If I wanted fuel economy I would have bought something different. I still like my H3T tons more than the Tacoma I traded in for it which consistently got 17-18 overall mpg.

Largemouth, what's your estimated mpg with the 35s on? Is your's manual transmission?

Yeah I have the manual transmission and with 35's I am averaging about 6-7km/litre or in yankee terminology 15-16 mpg.

I was averaging around 15-17 mpg stock, V8. Since PCM, superchip, exhaust, K&N etc. my mpg has increased even with the 35's. I've got to run a few more tanks with different driving conditions and compare the numbers with my "before" stats. I just have to locate the little book I was logging the info into that I had removed from my truck before it was worked on, lol. I'll post up what I find out in another week or two after a few more tanks. Man, love this little truck so far . Need to get her muddy now .
