Post your Fuel Economy
Hey folks, I'm looking to get an H3T, and I'm going to ask the question that is probably asked in every auto forum there is...What's your real world fuel economy?
For myself, I'm looking to get an Adventure 5spd, so that's the config I'm mostly curious about.
Anyway, please post your vehicle config (I5/V8, Suspension, and Trans), driving style (bingo/Nascar), % city highway mix, and real world fuel economy.
Thanks!

Mine's a 3.7 auto adv pack & I've only checked it twice so far, 1st time around 200mi it was avout 14.5 2nd time around 600mi it was 15.5. Driving was mostly city w/ a few 70-80mph highway runs & I tend to drive w/ my foot in the gas alot.

I5 Manual,
I'm getting 20 if i drive really really nice- like granny nice, which you can't really do without pissing people off unless its at night or your where there is no traffic.
17 if i'm driving without running up my RPM's too bad
i'm around 16-17 average
13 when I ride it full out/off-road

H3, I5, manual tranny. According to my ScanGauge, I was getting a hair above 18 during the nice weather, closer to 15 since winter temps have set in. This is mostly suburban driving - lots of stretches at 40mph with few stops. I haven't had it out on the open road yet, but short trips on the expressway suggest that it'll be about the same. Aerodynamics are not exactly one of Hummer's strong points. Regarding how it stacks up against the competition - it's in the same ballpark as virtually everything else in it's class. It just looks cooler doing it!

H3T Alpha, V8, Auto, Adventure Package
Averaged 18.4 mpg highway on 3/4 tank of gas.
Just bought my new H3T Alpha and drove it home (360 miles on highway). Starting with only 25 miles on engine from dealer and a full tank of gas. Starting outside temp was 80F, ending was 62F. Drove between 62 and 70mph the entire trip on highway. Most of the time I drove at about 64mph. Was surprised to see if you do not fly on the highway, you can get good mileage with the Alpha (V8/Auto). Trip included driving up and over a 4100ft summit in a 40 mile stretch of the highway. So mileage might have been even higher if the whole trip was on flat highway.
Drive home was VERY enjoyable.

Yeah, speed makes a big difference and with a heavier truck, it's even more pronounced. Unrelated, but if I'm driving at 80 mph, I get about 25 mpg and if I bring it to ~60 mph, it'll get 30 mpg...No, this is not in a Hummer, but my GTO...I love 6-speeds and wish GM would've made than an option in the H3T...I could see an easy 20-22 mpg if they had.
I generally run my tire pressures a little higher and try to keep the windows up. Keeping a steady speed is important (highway) and of course keeping things in top shape (oil, filters, diff/trans/TC oils, etc.) helps a lot...
So, I could see getting close to 20 on a light foot and flat terrain. However, it's going to be real adjustment to stick to 70 or under
