I'd recommend mounting with a bed rack, versus on the roof. You can find some bed racks for Colorado or Tacoma that could be modified to mount on the H3T bed rails. I used this rack and mounted it on my Diamondback bed cover:

 

Would a couple of skinny people be too heavy for the rooftop mount? That is my worry. Maybe 350 lbs

 

I've carried many loads on my oem H3 rails, heaviest was around 700lbs, never an issue. Test with a piece of plywood, get up on it and observe.

 

Mount it over the bed.
Keep your COG lower!
