Winch and Mount Options

Winch and Mount Options
Deciding if I want to add a Winch. The CB Photo Mount seems to be the easiest and least expensive way to mount a Winch and Warn seems like a good Winch. A search showed a number of threads but nothing lately or about an easy way to mount a Winch. Also no mention of Warn's new ZEON series Winches. Hiring a welder and fabricating yourself a Mount is another option. Thanks in advance.

first of all, are you going to use it enough to justify the cost. I know I do alot of offroading and I have used my winch less than 5 times. I bought mine with a winch installed already.
second, you are going to have to decide how much money you want to spend on a complete set up. There are several bumper options with winch mounts, and there is the brushguard with the winch plate on it. I understand that a winch is a nice option to have if you need it, but I never wheel by myself anyway, and most of the time it is quicker to hook up a yank strap and be pulled out.

H3 Ray ,
Not dissin your desire for a winch but it seems pointless if you don't wheel often. I don't off road, but I take it to remote areas to cave, backpack, camp, ride quads etc and have not ever needed a winch.
In fact, the 800 dollar light bar I bought years ago never gets used. Wish I had that money back for a nice AR15.

Appreciate your concerns. I enjoy fishing the Everglades and got stuck couple times, nobody around for miles. Once I had to walk 5 hours to the nearest small town and use a pay phone. Another time my Boat got stuck.

Looking for a minimalist approach meaning as lightweight as possible but still have enough power to escape trouble. Looking at Steelcraft or CB Photo Mount (same mount different name?) or spend more for the Defelice. I like how Defelice keeps the front end looking almost stock. Also, the Steelcraft/CB Photo Mount-if I was hit in the front or god forbid rear ended someone, the Winch and Mount would be totally damaged beyond repair.
Mount Options
1. Steelcraft / CB Photo ( Steelcraft: http://autocustoms.com/p-528-steelcr...le-guards.aspx )
2. Defelice Mount $670 ( H3/H3T Winch Mount by DeFelice Offroad )
Winch Options
1. Warn XD9000 ( Warn Industries - Jeep, Truck & SUV Winches: XD9000 )
2. Warn ZEON 10-S ( See Link Above )
Found this $389 Mount on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TYGER-Black-...480332&vxp=mtr

The Steelcraft is ALL Steelcraft. The brushguard is available with or without the winch plate. The winch plate looks like a CB mount but it is made of a thinner material.
True CB mounts are only sold thru G_Style.
That Tyger brush guard / mount that you posted is actually a Steelcraft.
If you only want the look and don't plan on any hard winching, then go with the Tyger.

Hello.
Newbie here. Just picked up my first Truck / SUV ever, and it’s a 2009 Hummer H3 Black – stock with a lot of options. A few questions please …. What are the popular parts people add / change out? I want to add a Wench to the front Grill and larger wheels / tires, but not sure which …. ?

I am assuming he doesn't ever "wheel" it for the fun of wheeling, but he might two track it to remote fishing spots? FL is flat, but it does have some gumbo mud that can suck in a truck.
One of the worse stucks I ever had was years ago (like 1980 ... WOW that seems like yesterday) when I put my '79 Silverado with 33 BFGs belly down in some serious goo, already a couple 100 yards into a bog. My buddy had a winch on his Chevy, while he would winch his truck kept sliding to me in the mud, couldn't get enough traction for a ******'em strap to work. No trees to strap to. Man that took hours, blew the whole afternoon getting out. Never get too adventurous without a wheeling buddy, winch or no winch.
