I have a 2007 H3, base model (It's not the Monsoon Version). I'm in the middle of installing an aftermarket stereo system, and I spotted this piece of equipment after unscrewing and removing the factory stereo head unit.
I've tried to identify it in the 1,000+pp Service Manual that I have, but I haven't been able to discover what it is.

I believe that is your OnStar module.

 

Does anyone use them?

 

As far as I know, you can still have OnStar connectivity if an owner should want that. My guess is that not many H3 owners still have OnStar. I don't have any information to back up that 'guess'.

OnStar is out-of-service, 2G and 3G are dead, and so goes the service.

Okay, so, if I remove this paperweight, will it interfere with my stereo/radio antennae? I noticed that there is an antennae coming from the back of it. Is that the same antennae?
