My serpentine belt went off on my 06 H3 while driving.

Battery light, lost steering pressure, water sprayed, normal “****”

On closer look, it appears the belt wrapped around this pulley that is linked to the radiator fan. Moreover, then I jiggle the fan blade, the whole thing jiggles (in all the wrong ways).

I’m not too sure what exactly I’m looking at, so not sure what to look up. Or whether this is something I can manage or not….

 

That would be your water pump. Definitely will need replaced. Fortunately it’s not a super hard fix and the part isn’t very expensive online.

 

Your Water Pump toasted, then trashed your belt.

There should have been signs that was happening before the chit hit the fan. Thant's a pun right there.....

 

My wobbly water pump made my h3 sound like a diesel before it failed. Got a new pump and clutch and fluids for under 200 and about 3 hours of knuckle busting to do the job. Simple enough. Most shops have the clutch nut holder wrench and youtube has enough videos to get it done easily
