Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
H3, 2007, 3.7
So last year when did all strip off and paint and s#hit, one of the issues was the connector rubbing against the frame and shorting few cables, making license plate light don't work, neither the trailer plug.
So try to fix it, but the cables that was burnt, also was corroded as hell, I tried to solder them back, but still was ****ty job, because the ends was too short.. so I did my best, engulf the the plug in silicone and left till better times. This year I want to use it to drag my harley, but when connected with trailer, flasher wasn't working, etc...
So this year I dug into my H3 again and decided to fix that issue for good. Basically I cut off the original mounting plate, where where originally mounted the plug, in order to move further away from muffler ( to have less heat impact on cables) bought new plug with long cables, mount it further away on new plate from muffler. Also I choose to eliminate the connector and Souder the cables directly using marine water proof connectors. All went well, but the last cable, whith is DARK BLUE- in manual it's says ,it's to engage the electrical brakes on the trailer - doesn't work. Meaning, I try to start the car, press the brakes, and I assume the tester light suppose to go off. But its dead. And I don't feel like wrapping all cables together , to realize after I have to undo whole thing to look for problem.
So my question- this cable would work when actual trailer will be hooked up and have some resistance in order to engage it? Or maybe some fuse its busted - I don't know about? In some wehicles they have the bottom to press when trailer connected, but obviously on my dash I don't have one... if some one know plz let me know the tips.
Apriciate in advance.
Make sure to seal/protect those wires/connections.
Oh yeah, like I said I use those marine type of connections, so they water proof by default.
That diagram you show- I have, I just don't understand how the blue cable work. Can I test it just by pressing the brakes, or the trailer has to be plugged for resistance to make it work? Or there is a fuse, especially for it? Cheers
The blue wire is "for" trailer brakes, but will only work if you purchase/install a brake controller. H3s are "pre-wired for a brake controller, but that's it; the wire is dead-ended under the dash.

Aha! Thank you for reply! I was thinking, I was doing something wrong! Thank you
