Hummer H3For the Hummer driver who wants the rugged look and off road capabilities of the Hummer, but in a smaller size and with a more fuel economy friendly engine.
The other morning after some rain, I got in the truck and a few drops of water came thru the overhead mic. First time for this. The left front drain was clear; the right front was clogged. Don't know for sure, but I think the rears were clear from what I can ascertain.
I was trying to see how water could get into the mic if the left drain was working.
I noticed water puddled up on the sunroof guide frame (orange arrow), left and right side. Is this normal? Does this eventually overflow into the water tray below (blue arrow)? I just never expected water to accumulate above the water tray.

I would say it's the other way around. Water filled up the 'Blue Arrow' tray due to clogged, poor drainage then overflowed into the 'Orange Arrow' tray. Eventually the 'Blue Arrow' tray slowly drained but since there's no drainage designed for the 'Orange Arrow' tray it found it's way out through the mic.
I don't see how that could happen, since the water tray is way lower than the frame. Water would overflow out of the water tray before it could build up on top of the frame, right? It looks like water seeps past the glass onto the frame then down into the water tray. Maybe the water tray is wider/deeper than I can see and goes beyond the frame to catch what it collects?
I've removed the entire head liner a couple times in the past for different projects, One of which is water seepage. Best as I could gather the areas where the sunroof trays are fused or riveted begins to weep. I chose to clean the tray really good and coat the areas in question, suspect with clear silicone caulk. Left it dry and reinstalled. In hind site I would rough up the tray gently with sand paper and then spray flex a seal or the like several thin coats and wait till dry. Reinstall and see if the results are adequate. In my case if we get lots of down pour the tray still weeps and wets the surrounding area. Short of a whole new replacement sunroof and headliner not sure.

The sunroof channel collects water from the sunroof then routes it through 4 pillars downspouts to exit points underneath.
Yeah, Hummerz, I know the basic idea ... The question is about the path from the roof down to the drain tubes.
The path to the drain tubes is within the channel x4 > same concept with gutters & downspouts. When downspouts are blocked water overflows the gutters.
Yeah, Hummerz, I know the basic idea ... Can you explain why water puddles at the orange arrow location?
When the drain channel OVERFLOWS! Clean your drains along with pouring water/soap cleaner into the channel which should flow out as quick as you pour in.
