Default Stability contol

My vehicle is a 2008 Alpha with 118,000 miles on it. Today I had an ABS failure light, traction control failure and service stability light come on on the dash, no CEL. tried to drive it and sounded like the brakes were hammering. I stopped and shut the hummer off for a minute and restarted it and could drive it with no issues but the warning message still scrolled on the dash. This occurred after going through a car wash which leads me to believe it is water related but I don't know where to look for bare wires or other issues. Looked at the ABS sensor wires but could not see any obvious broken or bare wires. Did a search and saw something about an encoder motor issue but unsure if all theses symptoms could be related to that issue. A suggestion on where to look would be greatly appreciated. Also, how difficult is it to re[place the ABS sensors in the front hubs and I think there are also some on the rear axle? Thanks

Connect a scanner with ABS capability, and post the codes.

My neighbor had a snap-on scan tool which could read all the codes, my scan tool could not. Looks like I have a bad left front wheel speed sensor. How hard is it to change that out?

Check the wiring/connector/hub bearing first.

Well, replaced the upstream O2 sensor on drivers side, bad heating circuit and chaffed wires. Friend had a torch which really helped loosen the sensor. While I was under there I also went to replace the ABS speed sensor which was causing the traction control and stability failure trouble code. had a new one in hand but found where the old one was letting water into the connection. Only got the light during a car wash or rain. Cleaned connector and used a generous amount of dielectric grease when I reassembled. now we will wait for a rainy day or the next car wash to see if that fixed it. If not I still have the new sensor. GM dealership wanted $563.00 for this service and it cost me a little over $100.00 with AC Delco parts. For now I am happy
