Default Shot Engine...

So, long story short, I have an 07 H3 with a shot engine, and I need to know my budget options. I want something that will work well and be cheap. If I could get a better one than the stock 3.7l i5, that would be great, but mostly I need a reliable engine with at least the same power as the stock one. A friend half jokingly recommended a small block Chevy, but I'm not necessarily opposed. I need something that's pretty easy to source as well cuz I need it done quick.
Thanks guys

What makes you think it is shot?

The budget friendly fix is another 3.7L I5 from a H3 or Colorado/Canyon. A small block Chevy is not a bolt in, not even close.

It appears that the previous owner drove it for a while with a bad oil pump.
I figured that was the case with the small block, but I'm just trying to get a feel for the "options"
Can you get a new engine for these anymore or would it have to be from a donor truck?

Thanks
