Default sheathing on side of Hummer 3Gas tank?

Piece of aluminum like metal fell off side of gas tank and was laying on top of differential. Looks like material is still on the side of the gas tank that's behind the aluminum/metal piece.
Does anyone know if this is safe to leave off since Im not doing any 4 wd? Thanks

Heat shield to prevent the exhaust system from heating up the fuel in the tank. I wouldn't drive without it.

Would you know where to find one? I googled it and cant find anything from hummer 3 gas tank heat shield except for a GM part that fits the picture but is not a match for vehicle.

That don't look like your tank.
The entire shield is missing? If so find a way to make a
Aluminized Heat Barrier Aluminized Heat Barrier
that won't blow away, nor get damaged by the driveshaft. Think of the concept with exhaust heat shields mounted to the floor underneath. The tank is plastic, yet the shield is metal, connect a sheet of aluminum to the shield up to the floor, or wrap the side of the tank if it will stay put?

That's the same I posted above. Yes it could work, how to keep it secure, is the question? It has adhesive backing, yet not tested in a wind tunnel. Find a way to secure it to the tank, or it will be flapping around like a skirt in the wind.
